Maranello, 23 January – A dream came true today for Francesca Porcellato, athlete and cross-country skier, from Castelfranco Veneto, in Maranello today to collect the sled with which she will compete in the forthcoming Winter Paralympics in Sochi. “It’s very exciting being here and to be able to clasp a “part” made by Ferrari, a passion, which along with my hair colour has earned me the nickname, Testa Rossa,” said Francesca with pride, as she showed off her new carbon sled, designed by Ferrari engineers in collaboration with the Italian Paralympic Committee. “Only a month ago, we spoke on the phone and I could never have imagined that it would be made so quickly! It’s much lighter than my previous one and I got a positive feeling about it. Now I just have to test it on the snow and make it go quickly!” Speed is what Ferrari and Francesca have in common in their DNA. Ever since she was a child she dreamed of being an athlete and with great courage, she was able to transform what seemed to be a childish whim into the ability to take part in eight Olympics, taking home eleven medals. It’s a dream that will continue in Sochi and the cross-country skiing event.
