1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider Competizione

(Estimate: $18,000,000-$20,000,000)
Many Ferrari aficionados consider chassis 1603 GT among the most desirable California Spiders ever built. This exceptional Ferrari was specially equipped from the factory with every available competition feature, including a full-race specification engine and gearbox, four-wheel disc brakes, and an endurance fuel tank with outside filler. For competition use, the Scaglietti coachwork was fashioned in lightweight aluminum, rather than steel, with the desirable covered-headlight arrangement. Delivered new to the US, this important California Spider Competizione has an outstanding racing history which includes a 5th overall finish at the 1960 12 Hours of Sebring with George Reed and Alan Connell behind the wheel. The Ferrari also raced at the Bahamas Speed Week in Nassau in 1959 and 1960, and was a regular competitor in SCCA events through 1964. Wearing its 1960 Sebring livery and presented in concours condition, this California Spider was displayed at the 2011 Palm Beach Cavallino Classic, where it earned an FCA Platinum Award and the prestigious Competizione Cup for the most outstanding competition Ferrari. Considering its incredible rarity, superb racing record, Ferrari Classiche Certification, and faultless presentation, this alloy-bodied California Spider is surely among the greatest Ferrari competition cars and, quite possibly, the ultimate open 250 GT.

1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta Competizione

The Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta Competizione presented here, chassis 1759 GT, is one of the first SWB Berlinetta competition cars built. Specially built for endurance racing and tested at Monza in March 1960 by Phil Hill, Richie Ginther, and Wolfgang von Trips, it was delivered new to influential US distributor Luigi Chinetti, who ran the successful North American Racing Team. This SWB Berlinetta was instrumental in NART’s four-car onslaught at the 1960 24 Hours of Le Mans, where it captured a 7th place overall finish with famed American drivers Augie Pabst and Ed Hugus at the helm. Owned by noted collectors over the past 40 years, this matching-numbers SWB Berlinetta has been carefully restored and prepared by one of the world’s leading Ferrari specialists, GTO Engineering. Today, 1759 GT is simply magnificent, with its original alloy coachwork intact and finished in its dynamic 1960 Le Mans livery. Recently certified by the Ferrari Classiche department and meticulously documented by leading Ferrari historians, this car presents a special opportunity to acquire a one of the most desirable 250 GT competition cars of all time.

1962 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta

The aggressive styling of the 250 GT SWB Berlinetta remains a masterpiece of Italian automotive design. The stunning example presented here, chassis 3359 GT, is a late-production “lusso” model with many desirable mechanical and aesthetic features. When new, this car was finished in an elegant silver over red color scheme and delivered to an Italian customer. In 2010, 3359 GT was the subject of a complete concours-quality restoration overseen by the Ferrari Classiche department. This work involved the expert services of Carrozzeria Autosport of Modena, operated by former Scaglietti employees Franco Bacchelli and Roberto Villa, and Autofficina Bonini of Cadelbosco, an official Ferrari service agent and concours-winning workshop. Refinished in its originally specified and very handsome color combination, this striking SWB Berlinetta has since received a special award at the prestigious Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. Beautifully presented and Red Book certified by Ferrari Classiche, 3359 GT is among the finest 250 GT SWB Berlinettas in existence and an essential component of any collection of the greatest Sports/GT cars ever conceived and built.

1950 Ferrari 166 MM Berlinetta

This 1950 166 MM is a thoroughbred competition Ferrari and an important part of the Italian marque’s pedigree. Chassis 0046 M is a historically significant even-serial-number Ferrari originally delivered as a Barchetta with coachwork by Touring of Milan. Scuderia Ferrari enlisted famed Italian coachbuilder Nuccio Bertone to drive this car at the legendary Mille Miglia in both 1950 and 1951. In 1952, 0046 M helped its then owner Emilio Giletti capture the Italian Sports Car Championship in the two-liter class. The following year, Milanese driver Luigi Bosisio purchased the Barchetta and had it sent to Carrozzeria Zagato, where it was updated and transformed into a closed Berlinetta. In this form, 0046 M continued to race in Italy, taking part in the 1953 Mille Miglia, and in North American events after being imported to the US in the mid-1950s. Remarkably, this historic Ferrari has been in storage since 1967 and is presented today in wonderful unrestored condition. This fascinating early Ferrari offers its new owner exciting options of either preserving the car in its current state as a true time capsule from the mid-1960s or performing an exacting restoration – either in its period Zagato Berlinetta configuration or return the car to its original Barchetta design.
