Shanghai, 27 May 2018 – The widely acclaimed Ferrari Racing Days returned this weekend to Shanghai for the eighth consecutive year. More than 120 national media and 45,000 passionate Ferrari owners and enthusiasts descending on the Shanghai International Circuit for a gripping and exhilarating programme with the Maranello super car manufacturer that makes the world dream about Italian excellence.
A lot to see. Customers, fans, and media enjoyed a dazzling array of highlights including the Corse Clienti programme which consisted of the F1 Clienti, XX Programmes and APAC Ferrari Challenge series; innovative Maranello creations such as the most powerful Ferrari 488 Pista and fascinating new GT cars, Ferrari Portofino and GTC4Lusso T. The ambitious programme was enhanced by a star-studded list of special guests, such as the renowned singer and actor, Ferrari owner, Julian Cheung; and some of the brands’ most passionate Ferrari Owner Club (FOC) leaders.
On-track thrill with racing DNA. At the heart of the Ferrari brand are decades of success in the renowned competitive scene of Formula 1 racing and not only. As the unique constructor to have taken part in every world championship since the start of Formula 1, Scuderia Ferrari has won 232 races, 16 constructor titles and 15 driver titles since the 1950 inaugural season, and Ferrari has achieved over 5,000 victories in motorsport worldwide. It was therefore essential that motorsport should play a central role in Ferrari Racing Days. As the most popular one-make series of racing in the world, Ferrari Challenge is now in its twenty-sixth year since it was established in 1993 and Ferrari APAC challenge is also in its eighth year. It brought together complete track novices and those who already have competition experience. With 30 race cars participating in the end, there was no shortage of action on the track. The six wins over the weekend went to Alex Au (2), David Dicker (2), Eric Zang and Tani Hanna.
The range. Several lucky guests got a taste of what it is truly like to get behind the irresistible wheel of a Prancing Horse. During a series of test drives and laps with professional Ferrari instructors, selected guests were given the opportunity to experience the thrills of the current model range, including the 812 Superfast, 488 GTB, 488 Spider, Portofino, GTC4Lusso and GTC4Lusso T, discovering the true potential of Ferrari on the long straights and flowing corners of the Chinese Formula 1 circuit where Ferrari has enjoyed huge success. People on Sunday also had the chance to see the F1 Show with Andrea Bertolini and the Scuderia Ferrari mechanics.
Excitement beyond the track. Commemorating the 120th Anniversary of the birth of Enzo Ferrari, the Italian super car manufacturer presented an extensive and stunning repertoire, including the Enzo Ferrari, Dino 246 GT, Testarossa, 250 GT (PF), 330 GT2+2, LaFerrari and LaFerrari Aperta. One of the acclaimed highlights of this year was the all-new Ferrari 488 Pista. Presided as the lead masterpiece of the weekend, 488 Pista greatly complimenting the line-up of cars at the Ferrari Racing Days, a true splendour of revolutionary Ferrari models, including the 430 Scuderia, 16 M, 458 Speciale A and 488 Challenge. Another highlight was the three limited-production Ferrari FXX-K EVO, which were provided by distinguished customers from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Chinese Taipei.
Family. Ferrari Racing Days are always ideal occasions for family reunions. From the Ferrari Challenge Race Simulator, to an extensive display of Ferrari Formula 1 replica cars, there were Ferrari activities around the paddock for enthusiasts of all ages and interests. The Kids Corner not only offered fun family interaction but also helped to enhance their knowledge of traffic safety. Meanwhile, a zone for corporate social responsibility was designed to showcase Ferrari’s long-term commitment to the China market. The corporate social responsibility programme, entitled “The Love of Red” covers four core areas including environmental care, education, safe driving, and social welfare.
Shanghai, 27 May 2018 – Ferrari Racing Days in Shanghai were a huge success with many thousands of people from all over China attending the Prancing Horse’s big show. The XX Programmes and F1 Clienti were two activities keenly followed by the public in the stands during the event, which concluded on Sunday.
Debutants. Four FXX K EVOs were present at the International Circuit featuring the new aero kit for even better performance. Each of these cars, developed for exclusive track use but not homologated for any championship, can now exploit even better the 1060 horsepower through the perfect combination of heat engine and hybrid technology. Many of the concepts on the car are derived from Formula 1 while the car’s appearance takes inspiration from the LaFerrari, a perfect blend of beauty and power.
F1 Clienti. Spectators on the grandstands also had the chance to see two FXX K, two 599XX cars and an FXX. There were also two F1 Clienti cars, one F2004, the record car that gave Michael Schumacher his seventh and last Formula 1 World Championship, and an F10 ex Alonso singleseater.
Gala evening. A gala evening was also held for the special stars of the XX Programmes and F1 Clienti, which, thanks to a Shanghai resplendent in lovely weather, allowed guests to fully taste what it means to be part of the great Ferrari family.
Shanghai, 27 May 2018 – Ferrari Racing Days closed its spectacular programs in Shanghai International Circuit while Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Asia Pacific Series finished its second of the third round on its calendar. After qualifying 1 and Race-1 on Saturday, the weather conditions remained dry and warm on Sunday during qualifying 2. While just around one hour before Race 2, there was shower on the track, which made tyre choice become harder to all drivers. More than half of them chose slick tyre and others had wet tyre. Including several Chinese local racers, all 29 drivers showed their own understanding of this 5.451km international-level track and suited to their various driving style, which made the closing race quite ornamental and became hugely rewarding to Tifosi on the grandstand.
Trofeo Pirelli. Pole position in qualifying1, race winner and setting the fastest lap in Race-1, Alex Au from Hong Kong achieved full point in Saturday. Then he extended his domination in this race weekend with another pole position and winning Race-2. Starting from first place, Alex Au kept all field pace in his hand. After this perfect weekend, he closed on championship with only 2-point gap to leading Philippe Prette. Renaldi Hutasoit from Indonesia started from 3rd, made a decisive overtake and got the runner-up in this class while Ringo Chong from Singapore who started from front row was the third to cross the finish line. Both of them and Rama Danindro, 4th place in Trofeo Pirelli, had a very fierce fighting in the whole course of this race.
Coppa Shell. Lebanese Tani Hanna continued his stable performance from the second race of this season. Starting from 4th in Coppa Shell, he recovered a lot in this tight race to be at top on the podium, which also helped to extend his advantage on standing. Tani Hanna was followed by Eric Cheung from Canada and Charles Chan from Hong Kang. In the championship of Coppa Shell, Chinese local heroes Yanbin Xin and Eric Zang are closest chasers behind Tani Hanna.
Coppa Shell Am. Coppa Shell Am had almost the same pattern as that of Race-1. David Dicker from New Zealand once again became the first one to cross finish line in this class. China’s Min Xiao and Grant Baker from New Zealand also caught the podium positions respectively as the second place and the third place. With double wins in Shanghai, David Dicker grabbed the leading position of Coppa Shell Am standing after Race-1 and extended his advantage to 19 points after Race-2. And he was also the winner of Gentleman Cup while Kanthicha Chimsiri from Thailand won the Ladies Cup.
Schedule. With the closing of third round, the next round of the Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific will be held at Fuji in Japan from 29th June to 1st July.
Shanghai, 26 May 2018 – Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Asia Pacific Series started its first race of the third round as one of the most important parts on 2018 Ferrari Racing Days in China. Heavy raining and wind in the day before made Shanghai International Circuit quite complex while all Challenge drivers showed their enterprising and talent to adjust in tight fighting. Thousands of Tifosi and spectators gave greatest cheering, highly appreciated this amazing race. After six practice sessions, all 29 drivers got used to this F1-class track which is 5.451km with long straight and very challenging high-speed corners. There has been quite heavy rain on Friday which made track surface very green and slippery in first qualifying and first race.
Trofeo Pirelli. Starting from pole position, Alex Au from Hong Kong won this dramatic race establishing his own pace right from the word “go”. The field behind him were in quite fierce pattern. Angelo Negro from Italy who started from 6th well recovered his race and got the second place in this class. Championship leader Philippe Prette was the third driver to cross the finish line in Trofeo Pirelli class.
Coppa Shell. Local hero Eric Zang offered a perfect show to Chinese audience as he was the third overall to finish the race in whole field in front of many Trofeo Pirelli drivers. Started from 11th on the grid, Zang had very good feeling on this most famous Chinese track. Johannes Setiawan from Indonesia also showed solid driving skills in this race and got the second place in Shell class while Tani Hanna grabbed the last place on the podium.
Coppa Shell Am. Coppa Shell AM had David Dicker from Australia as the first finisher, who closed gap on the class standing to Andrew Moon from Korea. He was followed by another local driver Min Xiao and Grant Baker from New Zealand. Dicker was also the winner of Gentleman Cup while Kanthicha Chimsiri from Thailand won the Ladies Cup.

Shanghai, 24 May 2018 – The Round 3 of Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Asia Pacific Series will come back to Shanghai this weekend, at the iconic Shanghai International Circuit from 25th to 27th May 2018, as the most spectacular part of 2018 Ferrari Racing Days which is the biggest annual Ferrari Festival across Greater China region.
Calendar classic. Following the opening round in Australia with Formula One race weekend and the second round to Auckland as its first visit in New Zealand, Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Asia Pacific Series will come back to China visiting its most familiar circuit in Asia Pacific. The Shanghai International Circuit made its first appearance in 2004 to hold F1 Chinese Grand Prix in last 15 years, its two long straights and a series high-speed corners bring great technical challenge and highest speed experience.
Ten local heroes. This weekend, including more than 10 local heroes there will be 35 Ferrari Challenge drivers racing in three classes. With two victories in last round and three podiums in first four races, Italian Phillippe Prette leads the Trofeo Pirelli class championship. In second place is James Weiland from USA with 13 points to close. In the Coppa Shell, Chinese Yanbin Xing is at the top of class standing, who is one of two drivers in this class winning points in every race till now. He is followed by Tani Hanna from Lebanon and Tiger Wu from Chinese Taipei. Andrew Moon from Korea heads the Coppa Shell AM category standings. Both from New Zealand, David Dicker and Grant Baker are in hot pursuit after finishing their home races.
Schedule. The Challenge drivers will undertake six rounds of practice sessions this weekend with four open practice sessions and two free practice sessions, ahead of Qualifying 1 on Saturday morning. The first race of the weekend will be at 2:45pm on Saturday 26th May while the second one will be at 2:30pm local time on Sunday 27th May.
