Good to know: Debut in Geneva: Ferrari 360 Spider Maranello, 1st February 2000 – The all-new Ferrari 360 Spider will make its international debut at the Geneva Motor Show on Tuesday 29th February 2000. The car will be presented by President, Luca di Montezemolo, at 12.30 hrs on the Ferrari stand. The all-aluminium 360 Spider is the result of nearly five years of intensive research and design. The 360 Spider will line up alongside the berlinetta version that was launched at the 1999 Geneva Motor Show, exactly a year ago, and which received world wide acclaim. Styled by Pininfarina, it is one of the fastest and most powerful Ferrari Spiders ever produced in Maranello and has a fully-automatic electric hood that folds away into the bodywork. Powered by a normally aspirated 400 hp, 3.6-litre, V8 in 90Ý cylinder aluminium engine, the 360 Spider will be offered with the second-generation of the highly successful F1-type six-speed longitudinal gearbox, as well as the conventional manual transmission. With the Spider, the Ferrari range will comprise of 4 models: the two 12-cylinders front engine and rear-wheel drive 456M GT/A and 550 Maranello; and the two 8-cylinders mid-engined 360 Modena and the 360 Spider. Deliveries for the Spider will start this Summer. The Ferrari 360 Spider will be launched to the International Press at Geneva Motor Show on Tuesday 29th February 2000 on the Ferrari stand at 12.30 hrs. 360 Spider unveiled at Geneva Geneva, 29th February 2000 – Ferrari S.p.A. President, Luca di Montezemolo presented the 360 Spider at Geneva today. It is the twentieth convertible road car model to be built at Maranello. The opening day of the fiftieth Geneva Show was the occasion for a press conference given by President Montezemolo, who summarised the events of the year just ended. “1999 was a very important year for Ferrari, with a doubling of return on investments over the past two year period. We also beat our historic sales record in the USA. Montezemolo also spoke about the current year. In 2000, we will go over the 1,400 billion lire of general turnover and record a very interesting fiscal yearHe did not forget the subject of the imminent Formula 1 season. “There is an excessive euphoria, but not within Ferrari,” said Montezemolo. “We have to keep our feet on the ground, because we will not know where we really stand until the weekend in Melbourne. What pleases me however, is that I have a lot of faith in our drivers and both of them have given me positive reports about the car. However, we are not alone on the track and we will have to see what the others have done.” Finally, Montezemolo got onto the subject of Maserati. “We are proceeding with relaunching the company, in which we have invested heavily. In 1999 we delivered 1,537 cars; a general improvement of 100 percent compared with 1998. We are counting on delivering 2000 cars by the end of the year, while the following year will see the arrival of the Spider, designed by Giugiaro and we will also return to the American market.” The Ferrari 360 is a Double Winner in Auto Motor und Sport’s Best Auto Awards Maranello, 8th February 2001- The German magazine Auto Motor und Sport yesterday disclosed the results of the 25th edition of the ‘Die Besten Auto’ Award and announced that the Ferrari 360 Modena had taken first place in the Imported Sports Car category and the 360 Spider in the Imported Sporting Cabrio category. Ferrari also clinched the second place in the Sports Car category with the 550 Maranello, completing a great result achieved in occasion of the Award’s 25th anniversary. Ferrari has won 18 times in the Sport Car category and this is Ferrari’s fourth double win since 1977, the last one being in 1995 with the F355 and the 348 Spider. Ferrari scoop double prize from the German magazine `Auto Motor und Sport Maranello, 5th February 2003 – A twin honour for the grand-touring Ferrari today in Stuttgart in a ceremony to mark the `best cars of 2003}. The awards were bestowed by the German auto magazine `Auto Motor und Sport}.Among the import vehicles, the Enzo Ferrari won first prize in the sports category while the 360 Spider was judged the overall best cabriolet.The final verdicts were the result of votes cast by 110,000 readers, as well as those of 50,000 visitors to the on-line version of the magazine, which in the past has crowned both the 360 Modena and the 550 Maranello.The prizes for 2003 were awarded to Gianluca Pazzaglini, Director of Ferrari Germany, by Bernd Ostmann, Managing Director of the magazine.
