Ferrari Challenge Apac – Wins for Hutasoit, Teo and Xing at Zhuhai

Zhuhai, 21 June – After a spectacular Race-1 yesterday for the Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific Round 4, the second race ended today at the Zhuhai International Circuit under the heat from both the temperature and the huge crowd.

Trofeo Pirelli. In the Trofeo Pirelli classification, the win once again went to Indonesian Renaldi Hutasoit who led from pole position and finished with the best lap time of 1’40”969. An incident between Steve Wyatt and 2014 champion Philippe Prette induced a safety car procedure. As a result, David Tjiptobiantoro, also from Indonesia, and Angelo Negro from Italy finished as the second and third. Wyatt was able to finish the race with a fourth place but Hutasoit has now 16 points more than the Australia who entered the weekend as the championship leader.

Pirelli Am.In the Pirelli Am classification, Singaporean Gregory Teo brought home again the victory. Eric Cheung from Canada claimed second place with Wei Xu from China finishing in third place. Eric Cheung also won the Coppa Gentlemen classification.

Coppa Shell.In the Coppa Shell classification, China’s Yanbin Xing achieved a strong race concluded with the victory. Bo Song also from China finished second, achieving two consecutive podiums finishes this weekend. And remarkably, Jing Shi made history by being the first female racer in Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific series on the podium of a race. The next round of the Asia Pacific Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli will take place at Shanghai International Circuit (China) on 11 – 12 July 2015.

 

Ferrari Challenge Asia-Pacific Round 4 Race 1 – Wins for Renaldi Hutasoit, Greg Teo and Xin Jin at Zhuhai International Circuit

Zhuhai, 20 June – The first race of the fourth round of the Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific took place today at Zhuhai International Circuit as part of the first day of the Pan Delta Super Racing Festival in front of a very big crowd. Everyone showcased strong efforts in yesterday’s practice sessions, but today it was a true racing spectacle, with 17 cars and drivers from 7 nationalities fighting against each other, filled with dramatic developments.

Trofeo Pirelli. Dominating Race-1 in the Trofeo Pirelli class was Renaldi Huasoit from Indonesia, scoring the fastest lap of the race in 1’41”196 and increasing his distance in front of Philippe Prette from Italy who finished second. Steve Wyatt, from Australia, had a hard fought battle with David Tjiptobiantoro, and eventually finished in third place. As a riselt Hutasoit is now back in the lead of the championship with a four-point advantage over Wyatt.

Pirelli AM. In the Pirelli AM class, Greg Teo from Singapore dominated the race, celebrating his second victory in Zhuhai, where he had his first win in Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific series back in 2011.

Coppa Shell. In the Coppa Shell classification, Xin Jin from China won the race once again. The other 2 positions also went to Chinese drivers: Bo Song and Nan Hu, who achieved an impressive result in his second race with Ferrari Challenge. The drivers will race again tomorrow for Race 2, which is scheduled at 12:00PM local time.

The series. Ferrari Challenge is one of the only competitive races and also one of the most popular one-make series in the world, where over 2,400 drivers have raced from over 40 different countries since 1993. The Asia Pacific region has joined the race since 2011 and this is the fifth sporting season in 2015.

Zhuhai, 19 June – The Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific resumes this weekend, with another stop in China, as the race will take place on the other great Chinese track, Zhuhai. 2015 will be remembered as the China year in the Ferrari Challenge. It was announced this very week that an additional race will be held in China, on 10-12 July, when the championship returns to Shanghai after the leg valid for the Ferrari Racing Days held in May. In addition, many Chinese drivers occupy leading roles in the championship standings. In fact, the only standing that they do not top is that of the Trofeo Pirelli, led by the Australian Steve Wyatt with four wins and 106 points, five more than the Indonesian Renaldi Hutasoit, who has two event victories to his credit. The other Indonesian, David Tjiptobiantoro who follows 32 the leader by 32 points, cannot be excluded from the list of contenders either.

Trofeo Pirelli Am. Wei Xu, with three wins, two of them right in Shanghai, leads the standings of the Trofeo Pirelli Am. Sizeable his lead over the Canadian Eric Cheung (44 points), who, however, tops the special Gentlemen Cup standings. The Korean Jung Hoon Youn occupies third position, with 50 points in the standings.

Coppa Shell. Chinese domination is even more pronounced in Coppa Shell, with four drivers in the top four positions. Xin Jin rules the championship with four wins in six races. He has a staggering 127 points in the standings, almost twice as many as the only other race winner this season, his fellow countryman Yanbin Xing. Third place belongs to Liang Wang, fourth place to Huilin Han. The Japanese Ken Seto is the first non-Chinese driver. The schedule includes Race 1 at 4:05 p.m. local time (10:05 a.m. CET) on Saturday and Race 2 at 12 noon (6 p.m. CET).
