Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Set for Championship Showdown this Weekend in Canada

The daunting Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, one of the most challenging circuits in North America, is the site for this weekend’s final pair of races for the 2013 Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli. Twenty-one Ferrari 458 Italias and an international field of drivers from Canada, Ecuador, Mexico, Venezuela and the United States will compete in two races.During this sixth race weekend in a 20th Anniversary championship season spanning North and South America, the Trofeo Pirelli and Coppa Shell titles will be decided. In the Trofeo Pirelli category, Onofrio Triarsi (Ferrari of Central Florida) leads the championship by a narrow five point margin over his closest pursuer, Ron Farano (The Auto Gallery). Farano, who lives in nearby Toronto, Ontario has scored three wins this season.

Eleven Ferrari 458 Italias will compete in the Coppa Shell category. Brent Lawrence (Ferrari of San Diego) enjoys a healthy lead in the championship, also thanks to his two victories at the previous round at Lime Rock Park. Marc Muzzo (Ferrari of Ontario) is in second position in the Coppa Shell championship.

Several Canadian drivers will compete this weekend, including Farano and Muzzo from Toronto, Ontario, Damon Ockey and Ryan Ockey (both Ferrari of Ontario) from Calgary, Alberta, and Guy Leclerc (Ferrari of Ft. Lauderdale) from Montreal, Quebec.

The first race of the weekend will be held on Saturday, September 7 at 3:05 PM ET. Ferrari Challenge competitors will take to the grid for the second race on Sunday, September 8 at 1:25 PM ET.
