Monza, 19 March – A morning of sunshine that felt almost like summer welcomed the Ferrari 458 Challenge EVO onto the track at Monza, the base for a day of pre-season testing for the European series of the most famous single-make championship in the world. Gathering at the historical track are 13 teams, who have brought 34 cars and 37 drivers of 12 nationalities.
There was a unanimous verdict on the 458 Challenge EVO, which from this year will be used in all three of the Challenge series (Europe, North America and Asia Pacific). The drivers were impressed by the improvements that the EVO aerodynamics kit has brought to the car. The new machinery, of which the large rear wing is just the most obvious element, means the 458 Challenge has much better stability and has allowed the Ferrari engineers to make it even quicker in corners while stiffer and responsive under braking.
The Ferrari Challenge Europe will get under way on April 5-6 at Monza, where a total of 40 cars are expected for the first double-header of seven in the calendar. The other rounds will take place at Mugello, Brno, Portimao, Silverstone and Istanbul before the finale at Abu Dhabi during the Ferrari World Finals.
