Ferrari in Namibia

Maranello, 29th July – The Prancing Horse is taking its first steps in Namibia, a country where speed is usually seen in terms of the leaping agility of the leopard, an animal that can rival a Formula 1 car when it comes to accelerating from a standing start, with 0-100 km/h in just 3 seconds – that’s the big cat not the car…

Few days ago, the “Tony Rust” circuit on the outskirts of the Daan Viljoen nature reserve and the streets of the nearby Namibian capital of Windhoek, hosted an event for Ferrari fans from African nations, who were able to test cars from the range, including the California, the Spider and the FF, under guidance from instructors from the Corso Pilota Ferrari, who had come out especially from Maranello. The clear light of the southern winter skies really brought out the colours of the Italian cars much to the delight of those taking part and to the satisfaction of Mervyn Eagles, the CEO of Viglietti Motors, the official importer in South Africa and the organiser of the event. “Africa is an emerging market, for the motor industry and marques like Ferrari are no exception when it comes to the growing interest which one encounters from potential owners. The hospitality we have received in Namibia was extraordinary and I think this event is a milestone in Ferrari’s expansion in this corner of the southern hemisphere.”
