The three-day Ferrari Tribute to Targa Florio concludes

Palermo, 19 October – The Ferrari Tribute to Targa Florio has proved a huge success once again with more than 50 Ferraris participating in the restaging of Sicily’s most famous race. At the wheels of Prancing Horse models spanning all eras from the Dinos of the 1970s to the 488 GTB unveiled just last spring at Geneva, the owners first followed the Salt Road which brought them to Trapani, across the salt flats of Marsala, taking in the Temple of Segesta, Castelvetrano and Selinunte, Europe’s largest archaeological site, along the way.

Second stage. On day two of the event, the Ferraris made their way back towards Palermo along the Via dei Mille, the route taken by Garibaldi and his 1,000 volunteers after they landed in Sicily on a campaign that ultimately led to the Unification of Italy. The cars called to the Pianto Romano monument to Garibaldi’s fallen soldiers before moving on to Calatafimi. After that, they traversed the Conca D’Oro highlands before making their way back to Sicilian capital.

Third stage. On the third and final day, the route wound its way along the spectacular and historic Madonie Circuit, from the grandstands at Cerda to the chequered flag at Castelbuono. This was, of course, the backdrop for the great epic editions of the Targa Florio, won on many occasions by Ferraris. A genuinely breath-taking stage that zigzags through stunning mountains and the deep blue Tyrrhenian Sea beneath, leaving no heart unmoved. It proved a particularly emotional experience for Tribute first-timers who were dazzled by the sheer beauty of their surroundings. Beauty was the star of the show too at the lovely Cantine Florio where the 488 Spider was unveiled to the clients who laid delighted siege to it, snapping souvenir photos and videos of its sleek lines.
