Farewell Andrea!

It is with great sadness that Blancpain and SRO Motorsports Group confirm the tragic death of Andrea Mamé when his #11 Lamborghini was involved in a multiple collision at the start of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo race this morning.
Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, who were immediately in attendance, his injuries proved fatal. The driver’s next of kin have been informed.
The two Lamborghinis #24 and #125 of Blancpain Racing driven by Marc A. Hayek, Peter Kox, Albert von Thurn und Taxis, Stefan Rosina and Jos Menten will not participate in the Blancpain Endurance Series race this afternoon.
Marc A. Hayek, President and CEO of Blancpain and Stephane Ratel, Founder and CEO of SRO Motorsports Group and their teams, all wish to express their condolences to Andrea’s family and many friends at this very difficult time.
A Sober affair in Paul Ricard

The Kessel Racing Team had a disappointing end to the Paul Ricard round of the Blancpain Endurance Series. Despite the #44 car of Ramos, Zampieri and Rigon leading the race for a long time, the trio eventually finished just off the podium in fourth position. However they still lead the Pro Category with their Ferrari 458.
However there were no celebrations at the French circuit this evening from any of the teams. Earlier in the day, the support race for the Blancpain Series, the Trofeo Lamborghini race was held and it saw a tragic accident – driver Andrea Mamè lost his life. He was a former Ferrari racer with the Kessel Racing Team and was just 41 years old.
The Kessel Racing team as well as the team from Corse Clienti offer their heartfelt condolences to Mamè’s family, friends and racing colleagues.
