The name says it all, Game of the Heart: a charity football match between Nazionale Cantanti and Campioni per la Ricerca, with proceeds going to two major Italian charities, Telethon and the Piedmontese Cancer Research Foundation. The game takes place on Tuesday 30 May at the Juventus stadium in Turin and present at the kick-off time of 20h45 will be Scuderia Ferrari drivers, Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen. The Scuderia’s third driver Antonio Giovinazzi will swap his race suit for football kit and studded boots.

“I’ve been playing football since I was a kid,” says Kimi, “even if as a good Finn, my favourite sport is still ice hockey. But I like kicking a ball around and I play almost every day as my son asks me to! I prefer to play as a forward and while I don’t have a favourite footballer, I do follow Juventus. I am very proud to take part in the Partita del Cuore and I sincerely hope that together we can make a contribution to the research work.” Like all German kids, I too have always liked football since I was little,” reckons Sebastian Vettel.

“Even if I wasn’t very good at it. But if one can do something to raise a smile for those who need it, then so much the better. It doesn’t matter how or when, the important thing is to help.” As for Antonio, who started karting when he was very little, his passion for football developed at the same time. “In junior school, it was the most popular sport, so I got into it like that. I like to be a true striker, but I’m not much of a goal scorer so I tend to play on the wing. I watch the games involving the Nazionale and I’ll be cheering for Juve in the Champions final, but for now, I feel it’s a great honour to be able to play in the Partita del Cuore, which I have always watched on TV.” For those wishing to make a donation, you can call 45540, from 22 May to 6 June.
