Maranello, 6th May – Ferrari is delighted to announce its association with two winners of the 2014 Vehicle Dynamics Awards which are bestowed annually by Vehicle Dynamics International magazine for the most important technological innovations in car industry.

Maranello had strong connections to the first two awards in the “Development Tool of the Year” category. The winning design was, in fact, the Driver in Motion (DiM) simulator developed by VI-Grade and Saginomiya in collaboration with Ferrari. The second award in the category went to the TRICK (Tyre/Road Interaction Characterization & Knowledge) simulation system which calculates tyre behaviour as a function of interaction with the road. Developed by Flavio Farroni, it began life as the subject of his doctoral thesis which centred around research conducted in collaboration with Ferrari.

The DiM is a latest generation simulator used by Ferrari to develop its road cars and adopts leading-edge technologies in its simulations. These provide answers at the design stage that are extremely useful to focusing and accelerating the development of the cars and also to guaranteeing unprecedented performance.
