Racing action from the Ferrari-Maserati Group at the Bologna Motor Show
Copyright: Ferrari

Maranello, 5th December 2003 – The Ferrari-Maserati Group will be contributing to the racing action at the Bologna Motor Show, which opens to the public tomorrow, Saturday 6th December and runs to the 14th December. On the opening day, at 13.30 in the area 48 arena, Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro test driver, Luca Badoer will demonstrate the F2003-GA. Prior to this and afterwards, there will also be some demonstration laps from the 550 Maranello GT, which won the 2003 FIA GT Championship.

The Vodafone stand (number 60 in pavilion 33) at the Bologna event will continue the GT theme. On show will be the Ferrari 575 GTC which made its debut this year, winning first time out, as well as a world debut for the 360 GTC. This model, with a dry weight of 1100 kilos, was developed by the Corse Clienti Department in Maranello, in collaboration with Michelotto Automobili to compete in the N-GT class. It makes use of recent evolutions successfully race tested on the 360 GT, with a sequential six speed gearchange and a further improved Magneti Marelli electronics package. The aerodynamics are substantially different to the 360 GT, given that the 360 GTC has been newly homologated by FIA/ACO from the Challenge Stradale, taking up from its basic elements: front bumper, side skirts, engine cover and double rear end. Wind tunnel research has led to a new system for the rear wing, with a notable improvement in vertical downforce. The performance of the 90 degree V8 3586.2cc engine has been improved in terms of consumption and power, putting out 445 horsepower at 8750 rpm.

Sunday 7th November will see the Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy series in action at the Motor Show, with eight drivers taking part: Alessandro Scalera, Nicola Cadei, Karl Baron, Lorenzo Bontempelli, Michele Maceratesi, Matteo Malucelli, Fabio Santaniello and Thomas Kemenater.

Monday 8th December, again in area 48, will feature a contest between the gentlemen drivers from the Shell Cup Ferrari one-make series: Vincenzo Sauto, Klaus Engelhorn, Cristian Francescon, Massimo Mantovani, Giovanni Zonzini, Andrea Lepore, Marco Verzelli and Sandro Mucelli. On the same day, the Maserati Trophy will be in action with cars based on the road going Coupé Cambiocorsa from the Trident marque. A special race will be run featuring sporting personalities René Arnoux, Ivan Capelli, Andrea Zanussi and Daniele Massaro and, from the world of entertainment, Daniele Bossari, Jimmy Ghione and Valerio Staffelli, as well as Emanuele Smurra, winner of the Trofeo Vodafone Maserati Europa 2003.
