Maranello, 9 July – The Ferrari Challenge APAC is back at the Shanghai circuit, which hosted the third round of the 2015 championship during the Ferrari Racing Days, for the fifth round of the season. Once again a great show is expected on the track that also hosts the Chinese Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Trofeo Pirelli. The fight is wide open in the main class, the Trofeo Pirelli, with three drivers challenging for the title. Renaldi Hutasoit tops the standings after four wins and another four podium finishes in the eight races held so far this season. The Indonesian is 17 points ahead of Australia’s Steve Wyatt and 46 in front of compatriot David Tjiptobiantoro.

Pirelli Am. The Pirelli Am offers a fantastic opportunity for local driver Wei Xu to further stretch his lead in the standings. Indeed his closest challenger, Eric Cheung, will not be on track in Shanghai and so the Chinese driver could tot up some crucial championship points. However, Cheung has a comfortable lead in the Gentlemen’s Cup table.

Coppa Shell. China’s Xin Jin is expected to put in another great performance in the Coppa Shell, having dominated the first half of the season with six wins out of eight races. Another Chinese driver, Yanbin Xing, is in second, followed by compatriot Liang Wang. Jing Shi is worth looking out for, after having bagged a podium finish in the last race, the first for a woman in Challenge APAC. The programme begins with Race-1 at 2.50pm local time (8.50am CET) on Saturday, while Race-2 on Sunday is scheduled for 2.45pm (8.45am CET).

Maranello, 16 June – Ferrari Corse Clienti announces a new location and dates for Round 5 of the Ferrari Challenge Asia-Pacific. Due to organizational issues the series has to leave the Sentul Circuit (SSU) and the 5th round of the 2015 series will now be taking place at Shanghai International Circuit from July 10 to 12.

This change of venue so shortly before the event was unfortunate, but as preparations went underway, increasing uncertainties and unforeseen restrictions made it clear it was impossible to create the race experience always wanted by Ferrari for drivers, customers and fans. It has been decided an alternative location should be explored and a slot at Shanghai International Circuit was secured.

“We are confident we’ll be able to deliver the same incredible racing event in Shanghai without compromising on all that we wanted to achieve. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and, should the opportunity arise again, Ferrari Challenge will be happy to return to Indonesia for future races,” commented Antonello Coletta, Head of Corse Clienti.

Ferrari Corse Clienti would like to express the utmost gratitude to Soetikno Soedarjo, Chairman of MRA group, Arie Christopher, General Manager, and the entire team at PT Surya Sejahtera Otomotif, the official Ferrari importer in Indonesia, for the excellent support and work they have done so far to prepare for a remarkable event.
